There’s light at the end of the tunnel, and the end is finally in sight to what has been, at times, an exhausting past year. Throughout lockdown we have all been in different situations, some have moved from offices to kitchen tables, others sadly have lost jobs and some like NHS workers, supermarket staff and construction workers have adapted to the ‘New Normal’ out on-site day-in-day-out.

With the past year being so tough on everyone for different reasons, I wanted to bring a sense of hope to those who work in the construction industry.

For a long time, frameworks have been extremely restrictive, making it harder for public sector organisations to source and engage with smaller, more local contractors. That is until now as Local Supply Chain has partnered with Sanctuary Group to launch the ConstructDPS – a national supply chain of pre-approved contractors specifically designed for the construction industry.

Our new solution opens the doors for everyone, including smaller more local contractors seeking to work on public sector projects. It is also available for those who have been unfortunate enough to lose their jobs and livelihood that might be seeking a new career or to re-invent a past skill.

The approval process is simpler than any other framework out there. We have removed the need for a contractor to be accredited by a particular accreditation service - and instead, opened this up to allow a contractor to obtain an SSIP from anywhere. Do not be disheartened if you do not have one though, there are other ways we can do these checks with a simple and easy questionnaire.

Forget hidden fees going back to 3rd parties - these have been removed too. I can proudly say this scheme is completely FREE for contractors in every way. Removing these outdated hidden fees is providing our clients with more competitive fairer pricing, it is a win-win for everyone.

The bonus of utilising the ConstructDPS has been clear from the start. This is not just a list of pre-approved contractors - it also uses the latest procurement software, which is focussed on and been created solely for the construction industry. It allows clients to not only source and engage with new and existing contractors, but also manage every single part of the procurement.

It gives governance and oversight for organisations across their frameworks, projects, procurements, and supply chain. It is a flexible solution for contractors who can market their business to clients for free - and for clients looking for an ‘off the shelf’ solution to manage all their procurement matters.
