Challenges:
Before adopting Local Supply Chain (LSC), Morgan Sindall faced a few challenges in its procurement and supply chain processes.
One of the most significant issues was the need for a system that could integrate seamlessly with Conquest, ensuring enquiries could be managed in a single, efficient workflow. The company also sought to simplify handovers, awards, and feedback to improve project efficiency.
In addition, the business was eager to strengthen engagement with SMEs and microbusinesses located near its projects but lacked the tools to track and report on this activity effectively.
Together, these challenges created inefficiencies, supply chain risks, and missed opportunities to work with local supply chains.
Partnering with LSC:
In 2019, Morgan Sindall Construction began trialling Local Supply Chain (LSC) in one region. The system was quickly embraced by project teams, delivering immediate improvements in efficiency and transparency. The success of the pilot sparked interest across other regions, and the trial rapidly grew into a company-wide rollout.
Today, Morgan Sindall Construction uses LSC across all teams and relies on its three core modules Supply Chain Management, Tendering, and Performance. The software’s seamless integration with third-party systems has also allowed the company to connect processes and data more effectively than ever before.

Morgan Sindall has not only adopted LSC but has also played a key role in shaping some of its development.
One example is the Performance Module. Recognising the need for a more efficient way to manage supply chain performance reviews, Morgan Sindall worked closely with LSC to form a joint working group. Together, they co-designed a new and improved module that is now streamlined, intuitive, and significantly faster to use.
Another innovation arising from this collaboration is the inclusion of engaging local skilled tradespeople through LSC. Developed in partnership with Morgan Sindall, this tool has shortened the time needed to engage local skilled tradespeople and has made it easy to source and support local economies by involving them in their projects.
