Case Study: 7formation

Overview:

Founded in 2008 by seven like-minded professionals from diverse areas of the construction industry, 7formation was built on a shared vision to deliver a customer-focused main contracting service that gets it right the first time, every time.

Initially rooted in the retail refurbishment sector, 7formation quickly gained recognition for its quality and reliability, securing contracts with major brands. This strong foundation has since evolved into a thriving design and build business, known for its agile delivery and client-first approach.

Challenges:

As 7formation continued to grow, managing their expanding supply chain became increasingly complex, seeking a solution that could:

  • Streamline and enhance their supplier onboarding process
  • Provide better tools to monitor and manage suppliers post-approval
  • Improve early market engagement and visibility of potential new partners

Partnering with LSC:

To address these needs, 7formation adopted Local Supply Chain in October 2023. Initially, the estimating team began using LSC to strengthen supplier engagement during pre-construction. The Expression of Interest (EOI) tool proved especially valuable, helping the team quickly identify and connect with suppliers in new regions or sectors where their existing supply chain was less established.

Building on this success, 7formation has since expanded its use of LSC to include supply chain management and onboarding. They are now actively using these, which have further streamlined their processes and improved the flow of supplier information between teams.

“Local Supply Chain has made it much easier for us to connect with new suppliers and manage our existing relationships more effectively. The EOI feature has been a real game-changer for early engagement, and the PQQ and onboarding process for our supply chain on LSC has already saved our team a huge amount of time, helping us to work smarter and stay focused on delivering for our clients.”

Results and Real Value:

Since implementing LSC, 7formation has seen clear benefits in how they manage and engage with their supply chain:

  • Faster supplier onboarding using a centralised system with streamlined approval processes reducing admin effort and improved accuracy.
  • Stronger market engagement by utilising LSC’s EOI function, enabling early market engagement with local suppliers, helping 7formation identify opportunities and strengthen their regional coverage.
  • Better supplier visibility with enhanced tracking tools, allowing the team to maintain compliance and performance visibility across their approved supply chain.

LSC Statistics: 69 projects – 441 procurements – 15 users

Summary:

7formation’s adoption of Local Supply Chain is helping them continue their journey as a forward-thinking main contractor, combining their commitment to quality with smarter and more streamlined ways of working. With the active use of LSC SCM and early market engagement tools, 7formation is well-positioned to further improve efficiency, maintain compliance, and continue delivering projects to the highest standard.
